My son's teeth have soft enamel according to his dentist. At the age of three he had to have multiple crowns and fillings. Wanting him to turn this around I started looking for a product that could help. I found Crest Pro-Health toothpaste.

Crest Pro-Health toothpaste claims to fight cavities, gingivitis, plaque, sensitivity, tartar, whitens teeth and freshens breath. That is a big list of claims. I'll go through each one at a time.

First Crest Pro-Health claims to fight cavities. Okay, according to the American Dental Association a tooth paste with fluoride will help fight cavities so this is a pretty easy claim to substantiate. The active ingredient in Crest Pro-Health is fluoride 0.454% stannous fluoride to be exact. According to Crest Pro-Health's website, "Crest Pro-Health Toothpaste is the first and only toothpaste on the market today to contain the Polyfluorite™ System." This system includes two main ingredients, one being the stannous fluoride I mentioned earlier. Stannous fluoride also covers the second, third, and fourth claims.

Crest Pro-Health's ingredient Stannous fluoride fights cavities, gingivitis, plaque, and sensitivity. I have found that since we started using Crest Pro-Health I haven't noticed any plaque build-up, but I hadn't had a plaque problem before trying this toothpaste either. My son has had cleaner looking teeth since he started using this toothpaste, this is something I really like. I think the best way to tell if this toothpaste is working in this area is my 14-year-old daughter. She has always had a problem with the way her teeth look. Her teeth have been looking nice and she says they feel clean since we started using Crest Pro-Health toothpaste.

Sensitivity is supposed to be decreased with regular use of this toothpaste. I have had the opposite effect. Since I started using Crest Pro-Health toothpaste I have had sensitive teeth. I have had difficulty with cold foods and cool liquids since I started using Crest Pro-Health.

When I first started using Crest Pro Health, I only noticed it burning slightly and being very gritty but didn't worry much about it. The inside of my lips became sore after about a week of using it, I thought I had just been biting them without realizing it. Soon after, they would burn really bad during and after eating. After 2 weeks of using it, I had a severe allergic reaction. My lips got very swollen and burned and itched really badly. It was obvious I was having an allergic reaction but to what.. food, make up, pets, pollen?.. Finally, last night after brushing my teeth and having to lean over the sink due to the burning pain and extreme watering of my mouth, my fiance' was able to pin point the culprit! Thank God! My lips got the most swollen they had ever gotten throughout all this last night, I was about to have to go to the doctor about it, concerned that soon my tongue or throat would do the same. So glad we are getting the word out!

This stuff is total garbage. It burns my mouth for an hour or so after brushing and I am going back to Tom's.

I JUST started using Crest Pro Health also. However, I noticed a slight burning sensation with the first use, then and a couple days later (brushing am and pm) I was questioning myself how I got such a large burn inside my mouth. At no point could I remember consuming anything hot enough to have caused such a burn! It is so painful I can barely eat, and a large portion of skin has peeled from my gum line to the roof of my mouth. Though I didn't realise it at the onset, this is a chemical burn! And I have never experienced anthing like this from any previous oral hygiene product. Solution: Dump Crest Pro Health To the makers of Crest: I am switching back to Colegate! Be glad I am not sueing you for my unecessary dental trip, pain and suffering!

Wow! I was trying to figure out why the hell my inner lips were cracking, sore and very dry! I also was removing large amounts of skin from my mouth in the morning! Thought it was my allergy meds causing the dryness and splitting of my gums and lips. Ouch! It is a good thing I bought my original toothpaste yesterday! That Pro Health stuff is awful!

This toothpaste not only has made my inner bottom lip and inner cheeks peeling, sore and blotched with tiny red blood dots, I now have a cyst like lump on my jaw bone. These side effects only showed up after using the toothpaste for 5 days, although the soreness started right away, after first use. This is horrible toothpaste if this many people have problems with it!

The good side, however, is that I am one of those people with the nervous habit of chewing the skin from the inside of my cheeks (quite hypocritcal when being concerned with the formation of cancers and infections as the result of a toothpaste when I do the exact same thing, but on a slower and smaller scale) and because the skin is already gone, I simply can't find the tissue to ''bite'' and ''chew.'' So, I would like to thank Crest for helping me, perhaps, break that habit. As of now, I'm sticking with the product until I've used all of my supply, but miss my Colgate Total (not a fan of the advanced clean because it doesn't make my teeth/mouth feel any more clean than the regular Colgate Total (it actually does the opposite). As of now, I haven't used the mouthwash (addicted to Listerine because I like the ''burn''). If anyone has any comments concerning anything mentioned in my posting for this college student, feel free to let me know as they are greatly appreciated.

My breath is fresh immediately upon brushing, but feel the freshness fades rather quickly and rely on my gum and water to keep my breath clean between brushings. My biggest concern is that it does make the skin on the inside of my cheeks peal quite profusely to the point that I have to use a tissue to scrape the insides of my mouth to remove quite substantial amounts of skin (doing so within the first ten minutes or so after brushing). The cheeks aren't sensitive or sore, however, but I do question how healthy that is and whether it will lead to any oral cancers (leukoplakia, et cetera) or even expose me to more bacterial infections as the barrier is weakened and saliva hasn't had the chance to destroy any of the harmful bacteria. The good side, however, is that I am one of those people with the nervous habit of chewing the skin from the inside of my cheeks (quite hypocritcal when being concerned with the formation of cancers and infections as the result of a toothpaste when I do

I have been using Colgate Total for years (since it came out as 'new') and was very pleased with the product. Then, I went to Walgreens and found ProHealth not only on sale with the mouthwash as a free gift, buying one and getting one free, but coupons were given to give even more monetary discount. So, as a result, I bought in bulk (almost a year supply for $7). I am pleased with the product in the sense that my teeth do feel cleaner and do appear to be so (whitenened and generally smoother and shinier) and I am addicted to the abrasiveness (reminds me of a dental cleaning). As far as sensitivity goes, I've never had a problem with sensitivity until now, although it isn't unbearable and very tolerable lasting only for an hour or so after brushing. My teeth are naturally whiter than most (purely genetic) and I haven't noticed a problem with staining (but I am one of those that brushes for what seems like a good ten minutes). My breath is fresh immediately upon brushing, but feel

Warning-Crest Pro Health toothpaste caused an allergic reaction in my mouth. My mouth and tongue are burning, and covered with open sores. I actually checked the label on the toothpaste, however, continued using it as the label indicated it was for gingivitis and sensitivity! I finally called my dentist, and later determined that the Stannous Fluoride is causing my reaction. I am now rinsing with salt water, and gradually healing.

Uh, yes it DOES stain some people's teeth, Steve-O. It contains stannous fluoride, which is a known stainer. Educate yourself on it, DUMBASS.

I was unable to find my usual toothpaste, so purchased a tube of Crest ProHealth. It makes the inside of my mouth peel after every brushing. I've only been using it for 3 days now, but I'm pitching the tube and searching for my usual Mentadent. Thanks for the comments!

I noticed that the inside of my mouth has been pealing since I used the toothpaste as well. I thought it was the combination of using the toothpaste and mouthwash but it still peals when i do not use mouthwash. I have noticed that my teeth feel cleaner but the stain that were already there stand out more.
