If you are on a budget but need to buy a meaningful gift for your sweetie, don't rule out jewelry. While fine jewelry can be expensive, there are many options of pretty baubles to buy in the $100 range. Most jewelry stores in the mall, such as Whitehall Jewelers or Zales, carry dozens of items in the $100 range. In fact, a large portion of jewelry sales is in just that category.
Rings
In looking for rings in the $100 range, head to the colored stones section. Often, stores will carry several styles of colored stone rings in the $100 or less price range. A popular example is created pink sapphire set in 10K gold. While 10K gold is less valuable than 14K, it is still a nice purchase. It is durable so it will last a lifetime, and it will not turn the skin black or green (unless of course the wearer has an allergy to gold).
White and Yellow Gold Earrings
There are often dozens of choices for earrings in the $100 range as well. Dangly earrings and hoops made of 14K gold are a great choice. If you want earrings with gem stones, look for more inexpensive gemstones such as garnet, aquamarine, peridot, and citrine.
Diamonds
Believe it or not, you can buy diamond jewelry in the $100 price range. Many stores purchase a large quantity of certain items they can then sell at a promotional price. Look in the store flyers to see what is on sale. You will likely be able to find white gold pendants with small diamond chips in the $100 area. Popular styles include hearts and circles of love.
Diamond Earrings
If it is diamond stud earrings you are looking for, you will generally have to cough up at least $300 for even a small pair. However, stores do often carry small diamond cluster earrings, which have several tiny diamonds set together to look like a larger diamond. You may be able to find something like this in the $100 range, but the earrings will still look tiny.
Charms
If the person for whom you are shopping has a charm bracelet, it is a great idea to get her a charm to add to it. Charms come in many shapes and styles, and a great many are under $100 in 14K gold. If you give yourself plenty of time, you can even special order a specific charm just for your loved one.
