Are you thinking of selling antiques online or creating a collectibles store website? Here are pros and cons, in my opinion, of selling old and vintage items for profit over the Internet.

Unlimited Income Potential
Whether you choose to set up your antiques and collectibles store through your own website, or sell old and vintage items through existing sites and auctions, your income potential is wide open. You can choose to sell to collectors, dealers, and other customers world wide or in particular regions only. As an Internet antiques dealer, you can start a sideline business for extra spending money, or a large, extremely profitable collectibles store. Depending on your desire and amount of merchandise for sale, you are the main determinant of your business profits and income.

Big and Steady Demand
Old and vintage items are always in demand by collectors, dealers, and other customers. As the oldest desired objects become more difficult to purchase for resale, items of 25 years old or so become nostalgic to the next generation.

Huge Variety of Profitable Merchandise
Almost any type of object is of interest to collectors somewhere. With an online antiques and collectibles business, you have the ability to reach these customers. An added advantage of this fact is that as an Internet dealer you can sell an eclectic mix of vintage items or specialize in antiques and collectibles of particular interest.

Competition from Other Dealers
The huge, interest in antiques worldwide had created a correspondingly giant and thriving market online. As a dealer, you will face heavy competition from others selling collectibles. Fortunately, by carefully choosing an interesting mix of vintage merchandise, or specializing in certain old items, you'll build a following of loyal repeat customers. Also, because so many types of things are collected, your particular offerings will probably be different from others.

I agree that it can be a challenge to find antiques. It has to be 100 years old to qualify as such, so it isn't always easy to find genuine antiques. Sophie
