The Power of Twitter
Social networking sites have been the rage since Myspace first came out in 2003. However, Myspace soon lost users to Facebook. Today, Facebook is loosing members to twitter. What is twitter? Why do people love it so much? Does it help your career? Will it stay around? These questions will be answered over the course of this article.
Twitter is ultimate "micro-blogging" social media site. In 140 characters, users can say what they are doing. The "average Joe's" love it because they can follow their favorite celebrities and know exactly what that celebrity is doing as often as that celebrity allows. Celebrities love it because they can connect to their fans at any second. Both celebrities and "regular" people can also promote themselves, their music, movies, etc!
Twitter can definitely help your career. For me personally, twitter has helped me to promote my content here on Associated Content. I became a contributor for Associated Content in April. I didn't have a lot page views back then. Sometime in May, I read an article about how twitter can help you. At the time, I just didn't want another site to keep up to date. My page views continued to be low. So, I gave in. I developed my twitter, www.twitter.com/VRochea in June. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made. When I started promoting my articles on twitter, my page views doubled within weeks and continued to grow. One of the restaurants that I wrote about, on here, read my article, linked the article onto their twitter and started following me on twitter! That is the power of twitter!
Do I follow anybody on twitter and who? Absolutely! I, of course, follow Associated Content at www.twitter.com/acnews. I also follow celebrities such as: Dame Elizabeth, Barbara Walters, Oprah, Janet Jackson, Tyra Banks, Vanessa Simmons, Kirk Franklin, Bill Cosby and Ruby (from style). I also follow people that not a lot of people know, but should know such as: FreeJewelry4you, Wisdomfashions(Wisdom, an online clothing store), and CometoParadise(Cheeseburger in Paradise)!
