There are many different detox diets out there. Some may be hard to follow, and involve drinking some pretty gross mixtures. Not the Lemon Detox Diet. This diet consists of fresh water, pure lemon juice, cayenne pepper, and Natural Maple Syrup. The acid in the lemons assists the cleansing process, and the cayenne pepper helps speed up your metabolism, promoting circulation and a greater release of toxins from our bodies. This Detox will help you cleanse your body, lose weight quickly, and make you feel better overall.

This detox was largely promoted by singer Beyonce, who was quoted as saying, "I lived on water, cayenne pepper and maple syrup for 14 days. It was tough; everyone was eating and I was dying." But, in two weeks she reportedly lost 20 pounds.

As a culture, we eat so much processed and junk food, that we add very little nutrition to our bodies. Therefore, our bodies end up worker so much harder to get rid of the waste that is generated from such low, nutritional value food. Also, we breathe and ingest numerous chemicals and toxins each day, which does nothing for the health of our bodies. What the Lemon Detox Diet does is allow our bodies to naturally cleanse themselves, while we take a break from solid food.

It's hard to give up the comfort of food, and the caffeine in pop and coffee. This diet will present a mental challenge to you as well. Look at it as a challenge, rather than a chore, to get you through the rough parts. Remember, you WILL eat again. When hunger pains strike, fix yourself another glass of the Lemon Drink and visualize the rewards you will receive once you complete the detox.

The Detox drink is quite simple to make. Take:

2 tablespoons of freshly squeezed lemon. Do not use concentrate or a drink mix, as these contain preservatives.
2 tablespoons of Organic or natural maple syrup. Again, no maple flavored syrups, for reasons above.
1/10th of a teaspoon of cayenne pepper, more or less to taste.

Mix above ingredients in 8 oz. of fresh spring water, hot or cold. Enjoy!

iv tried this maple syrup detox diet, and trust me its really worth. i stayed on this maple diet for 7 days and saw fast effects i had lost a stone in 10days without any exercise. i was not ill and felt great, and my skin was much clearer. and no you do not put the weight staight back on if you eat healthy its not rocket science, everyone knows if you go on a detox programme like the maple syrup diet ,and eat junk your going to put the weight back on. no one can really comment unless they have done the diet themselves. so just try it at least for 3 days if you cant do it then you know this is not the diet for u,SIMPLY REALLY

It's important to know that this isn't a permanent weight loss program; it's a temporary detoxifying plan. I do it every two months for three days so i can give my body a break from solid foods without eliminating them for too long. Losing weight and keeping it off is a long road, not a two week liquid diet, so don't try this if that's all that you're looking for.

Hi Did you know that this diet was originally created back in egyptian times? Rochelle Moore is a celtic witch and author and writes articles in various sites as well as books on amazon. She posted (i think on www.gather.com) an ancient celtic witch diet remedy that is close to this one however much more effective. great article Glenn

Sounds like a fad crash diet to me. You run serious risks of crashing your metabolism by starving yourself. Not to mention the damage yoyo dieting can do to your heart and ability to regulate blood sugar levels. Please consult your doctor or nutritionist about a sensible way to lose weight, such as Weight Watchers. By eating fruits. vegetables, whole grains and the right amount of protein and limiting fat, and increasing your activity levels, you will naturally lose weight, over time.

Anyone who tries this and loses weight isn't losing it because of the diet, they're losing it because they're starving themselves. Fasting "diets" aren't a good idea and you're very likely to regain the lost weight once you start eating again because your body will begin to store more fat so you don't starve again. If you really want to know the secret to weight loss, here it is: Eat less, eat healthy, and exercise.

I don't think I could do it that long. I could do it for about 24 hours, that would probably be as long as I could handle it, I don't have the self control

I want to try this diet .... but I'm wondering if I take this lemonade in the moring and before go to bed and eat something for lunch if its gonna work ??? I don't have a lot to loose but I don't want to take back my fat after this diet. OK, I'm gonna start this diet tomorrow and after 1 week i'm gonna tell you what's happening to me :D

i've been wondering 'bout this diet for so long.................I think I should try this, although I think it would be very difficult because I'm married with 2 children! But I will try it and let you know how it's going!

I would assume that after this 2 week "liquid diet" to rid yourself of toxins is sure to take off weight as well. You will probably lose enough to actually notice a dress downsizing. However, once this detox period is over, hello food. It will take you on like a kid in a candy store. Be prepared to see yourself back up at the weight you were before starting this cleansing. It's hard to go from liquids back to solids again and not gain weight back unless you really stick to fruits and veggies. Once you get food back on your taste buds, take it slow! Cleansing is great, but don't do any detox formulas just to lose weight. It will come back and usually more than you want!

i also want to say that the main purpose of this isnt to lose weight or shouldnt be, it's to make your overall body healthier. it will help prevent cancer IMO from what ive read and make you healthier overall. if someone knows about lack of protein on this diet and muscle loss lemme know though

Posted on 04/10/2008 at 8:04:51 AM

im thinking about trying this but i worry about lack of protein and losing my muscle mass. could i add some protein powder or would that be counter productive
