The Lemon Detox Diet - Used by Beyonce, Among Other Hollywood Stars

There are many different detox diets out there. Some may be hard to follow, and involve drinking some pretty gross mixtures. Not the Lemon Detox Diet. This diet consists of fresh water, pure
 lemon juice, cayenne pepper, and Natural Maple Syrup. The acid in the lemons assists the cleansing process, and the cayenne pepper helps speed up your metabolism, promoting circulation and a greater release of toxins from our bodies. This Detox will help you cleanse your body, lose weight quickly, and make you feel better overall.

This detox was largely promoted by singer Beyonce, who was quoted as saying, "I lived on water, cayenne pepper and maple syrup for 14 days. It was tough; everyone was eating and I was dying." But, in two weeks she reportedly lost 20 pounds.

As a culture, we eat so much processed and junk food, that we add very little nutrition to our bodies. Therefore, our bodies end up worker so much harder to get rid of the waste that is generated from such low, nutritional value food. Also, we breathe and ingest numerous chemicals and toxins each day, which does nothing for the health of our bodies. What the Lemon Detox Diet does is allow our bodies to naturally cleanse themselves, while we take a break from solid food.

It's hard to give up the comfort of food, and the caffeine in pop and coffee. This diet will present a mental challenge to you as well. Look at it as a challenge, rather than a chore, to get you through the rough parts. Remember, you WILL eat again. When hunger pains strike, fix yourself another glass of the Lemon Drink and visualize the rewards you will receive once you complete the detox.

The Detox drink is quite simple to make. Take:

2 tablespoons of freshly squeezed lemon. Do not use concentrate or a drink mix, as these contain preservatives.
2 tablespoons of Organic or natural maple syrup. Again, no maple flavored syrups, for reasons above.
1/10th of a teaspoon of cayenne pepper, more or less to taste.

Mix above ingredients in 8 oz. of fresh spring water, hot or cold. Enjoy!

I am on my third day of this diet and I am down 5 pounds. (But!) I supplement by grazing on healthy foods during the day. For example, today I had a bowl of fiber one for breakfast, a banana and a tbsp of peanut butter for lunch, and a morningstar garden burger for dinner. I sip on the lemon drink throughout the day, and if I start feeling sluggish or overly hungry I grab a few grapes or baby carrots. My theory is that if you continue to eat while on the program, but limit your calorie intake, then it won't be such a shock to your body when you do eventually start eating a normal (healthy!) diet again, and the pounds won't fly back on. So far so good!

I'm starting this diet today. I've used blue print cleansing last week. Their products are great but expensive. I did like the lemon and cayenne pepper drink which is why I'm sticking to it for 14 days. I'll let you guys no my progress.

Does it work if you just do it for a few days? My husband told me it is harmful to your body.

I am 5'10 and 137 lbs.. i have tried it for a couple days before and lost about 6 pounds.. im hoping that this will work even more now that i am going to be doing it for 10 days along with exercise..

On my 5th day today. Haven't been hungry since I started but have been tempted hundreds of times, since I work at a grocery store. Wanted to give up plenty of times these past days but in the end I know I can do it! Doing the salt water flush (although it usually makes me want to throw up) and taking Bentonite as well. Lost a total of 10 lbs to date.

Does the cayenne pepper flush out the system, while the lemon provides antioxident and the maple syrup gives the sugars for energy?

Hey Tonia, how did you do it? Did you eat anything or did you do the diet strictly as directed. I've been having some stomach pain and then i have to run to the bathroom. I have eaten food as well.

I did it all seven days! You can do it. I only lost about 4 pouns (one came back), but I feel great and my skin looks great! Stick in there!

how u guys do it......i started yesterday and i was so hungry. i gave in and had a pizza then i had the worst stomach pain ever. and all i had done was the water and salt and the smooth move tea in the morning. i couldn't drink the mix i think i put to much pepper. so i started again today...I'll comment later tonight on my day.
