Alternatives to Candy for Halloween Trick-or-Treaters

Every Halloween, millions of children look forward to Halloween trick-or-treating. Of course, what they look forward to the most is candy and they'll definitely get a lot of it. But to shake things up and make life easier for the parents of these children, more of us should look into offering healthier alternatives and Halloween-themed items in place of candy. And you never know, you may become one of the popular houses on the street for giving out unique Halloween treats. Here are some of those alternative Halloween candy alternatives.

The first thing that pops into most peoples' minds when thinking about Halloween candy alternatives are Halloween party favors. When i was much younger i remember getting those little plastic novelty Halloween rings of skeleton skulls, bats and spiders. I'm only guessing but I'm sure they'd probably be even more popular now then they were in the mid-90s given the shifts in our culture and all.

Another idea are those Halloween puzzle and collector cards you can find at many dollar stores. Some come with mazes and other puzzles while others have Halloween-themed jokes and riddles printed on them. You could choose to either give out a few from the deck to children or even the whole deck if you choose.

Another popular Halloween candy alternative are Halloween stickers and temporary tattoos. Both of these are items i used to get when i was younger and are available at many dollar stores and all over the internet. The best thing about these is that the designs and styles are nearly endless, go a long way when passed out and are very cheap to purchase.

Miniature plush toys and glow-in-the-dark toys fitting the Halloween theme are excellent for a Halloween candy alternative. Halloween themed toys of this type may be harder to come by, especially the glow-in-the-dark type, but if you find them know they're definitely worth getting to hand out to the trick-or-treaters.
