In The Reaping the main character(Hilary Swank) doesn't believe in religion but more of facts. It hasn't always been like this but when her daughter and husband has been sacrifices to "God" for rain to come upon a third world country. As a university professor she goes to countries and explain the scientific way for current events in these country. She does in many countries but when a man came up to her and made her an offer to visit his town and find an explanation for his town she realize there could be miracle in the end. This movie is basically about plagues. A small town goes through plagues and they believes a twelve year old girl is causing these plague. So Hilary Swank goes to investigate and hope there a scientific explanation for this events. There were bloody water when she first got there because the "twelve year old girl had killed her brother" making the river turn in blood. She still believe there was a logic explanation for this. I believe its not until the people have start obtaining boiler on there body her faith started to kick in. She had several dreams before she got to this that help her restore her faith. The ending is a lovely twist that you may expect in your first instinct.
My favorite part of this movie is when the bull when on a rampage and ramp into their car. It was a short scene though but I remember it. After that scene the cows started to drop dead and that was explainable to her as well or she thought. Her companion thought otherwise. But eventually her companion dies from another person(which I shall not reveal, she the movie). But above all that was favorite scene but I like destruction and seeing that car get total was pretty cool.
Another favorite scene of mines is the locus scene . In this scene locus was surrounding everyone trying to hunting the little girl. One guy try to shoot a locus and the little creatures just start attacking. There was more than bullet he had in his gun; don't know why he did that but he did and they reacted. They killed a few and cause Swank companion to enter a graveyard which he discover dead children and his own death. But this is good movie so you'll probably have several favorite scene.
