we already have 2 house cats but several "outside cats" who come for food.....one has lately started coming into the house to eat, drink, be petted and warm up......he seems to have a cold and I do not want to frighten him with some of the suggestions I have found on line......he drinks lots of water and I have given him a little oregano oil but then he didn't come back for 2 whole days......but he did seem better....since it has been warmer out and wetter he seems worse.....but each time he even smells the oregano oil he runs away......Help!....he is actually making snoring sounds when he is awake and sneezing like crazy......he grudgingly lets me wipe his eyes and nose with a tissue but it doesn't help him much.....initially he was very skittish for several months so now we feel honoured that he is so comfy around us to come into the house and sit on the door mat......I do not want to spread anything to our cats....we wash our hands after touching him.....he cannot stay in the house

I [have] a stray cat named Buttercup. She is beautiful! She is outgoing and is so far the highlight (other than God) of my life!

two stray cats have came into my life in the past two years. we call one Momma, and the other one Snowball. This was the best for the both; they came to me for help, and i"ve gave a heavenly home. I can't stand to see animals suffer.

I can relate to this article. I've had three cats over the years and all were strays. And they were all great cats. I currently have one indoor cat and a feral cat that I feed. How the heck do they find me?

I love all animals and when i found a stray I couldn't bear to let in suffer so i brought her in and fed her and gave her a drink and a place to stay for the night. Now she is my pet and i can't say how much satisfaction I have gotten out of saving a poor innocent creature.

Great info! More people (including me) need to write articles like this. I do animal rescue and education, and all my "kids" (as well as the rescues I've placed and my feral that I feed) and picked me). Cats get a bad rap, and the rates of euthansia are frightening. I work with people trying to keep them indoors. I need to do an article on FIV...I've done some great placements with those cats, people are really afraid of the illness, when it's really quite manageable. Sanctuaries are also great options for hard to place kitties. :)
