Horrorcore rap Artist Syko Sam, a.k.a. Richard Alden Samuel McCroskey III, faces charges of first degree murder (and other crimes) over the deaths of four people in Farmville, Virginia, according to Google News. Syko Sam is really into horrorcore rap music, which glorifies violent and murderous acts through song. But does being a fanatic of horrorcore rap, like Syko Sam is, make one a violent, murderous person? Think of all the violence that we as Americans have seen in our lives on television via Westerns, crime programs, horror movies, news programs, etc. Think of all times as people we have been so angry at others that we feel like hurting them or even killing them. Well, most of us haven't seriously assaulted the people who've made us angry nor gone as far as murdering anyone despite all the violence that we've been exposed to in our lives. This is because we either fear the consequences of hurting and killing others and/or we have enough self control to let our feelings of violence pass. Horrorcore rap artist Syko Sam is essentially accused of making his artistic expressions into reality.

What about those of us who don't act violently when upset because we know that hurting people is wrong? I'm not talking about religion dictating this or society telling me that killing another person is wrong; I'm talking about knowing that killing and murder and violence are wrong. I'm talking about not being capable of hurting someone else unless I or my family were being seriously physically threatened. Maybe some people don't act violently because we aren't violent people which would explain why we would not enjoy listening to music in the horrorcore genre?? Regarding other articles I%27ve read this is the only one I've read that is NOT close minded and doesn%27t point fingers at the genre.I'm so sick of this scapegoat shit. So I give this article a big BRAVO. For example the media can educate us that Big Macs are bad for us...but does the goverment really need to ban it%21%21%3F If that is so...then the Gov. is treating us like kids in school%28or even yes babies%21%21%29. Great conversational piece. As a parent I had the right and responsibility to try and monitor what my children listen and watch. At a certain age we hope fiction and reality can be discerned. Sick people will do sick acts no matter how they grew up. Dsyfucntional homes and also good homes produce criminals. I don't know what the real answer is, though I veer on having parents who are together and monitor their children closely. Self control and knowing your boundaries of proper behavior is what counts, sick music or not.

I am a horrorcore artist and I lead quite a normal life. Music always gets blamed for being the reason behinds someones anger. I happen to know this dude personally and honestly If your mental capacity is a little off before you start listening to this music then expect it to effect the person in ill ways. But horrorcore, gorehop, or any kind of violent music is not to blame for anyones mental state that is an individual choice and besides have you heard of not guilty until proven. We work harder than any other genre of music we are not accepted at venues with open arms when wwe do get a venue they charge us 2x sometimes even 4x what other local bands would play and still we manage to be 8,000 deep at the gathering. Honestly%2C censure may not be a bad idea. I listen to alot of music and their are some songs which if you want to break down the lyrics%2C can be considered as terroristic threats. I am all for freedom of speach%2C but I think it is about time these so called %22artists%22 stop hiding behind the constitution as a way of acting irresponsible. And we know people acting irresponsibly proceeds the making of laws which slowly deteriorates our freedoms.
