Anytime you feel bloated, rundown or moody, you probably don't consider that your liver may be to blame. The same goes if you're gaining weight for no explicable reason, your hair is dull or is falling out, your skin is dry, your fingernails crack and break easily or you have allergy-like symptoms. These are all common symptoms of a toxic liver. Try these homemade remedies to cleanse your liver and regain your health!

Your liver is one busy organ. It's constantly working to clean the toxins out of your bloodstream so they don't migrate into the rest of your body. Everytime you overeat fatty foods, foods that are made from white flour, sugary foods, or you drink alcohol, your liver is working overtime to detoxify your body. It even filters out unhealthy chemicals that you breathe in from the air, such as cigarette smoke. And, it works to remove any harmful chemicals found in the water you drink.

On top of all that, your liver works to fight off infections, governs your hormones and it channels energy to your body. But it can't work properly if it's clogged with poisons. This is why it's recommended that everyone cleanse their liver on a regular basis.

An effective, homemade remedy that will help cleanse your liver is to keep your body properly hydrated. Drinking six to eight glasses of water every day will help flush the toxins out of your body.

Also, eating a healthy diet is another homemade remedy that will help cleanse your liver and supply it with valuable vitamins and minerals. Eating plenty of vegetables- carrots and beets in particular- and fruits- apples and lemons- and beans do a great job of supporting the liver. Drink a glass of water with lemon juice added every morning as an easy way to help cleanse your liver.

Don't forget to add plenty of fiber to your diet as well. Fiber helps to prevent constipation. If you're constipated, some of the toxins in your body can't be eliminated.
