Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams are set to star in the film adaptation of the novel "The Time Traveler's Wife." The film is based on Audrey Niffeneger's novel, a time traveling love story.
The New Line Cinema project will be produced by Brad Pitt's Plan B with Robert Schwentke ("Flightplan") already set to direct the film.
The story will revolve around a librarian, played by Bana, at Chicago's Newberry Library. The librarian has a gene that causes him to travel back and forth in time involuntarily.
During one of his time traveling escapades, he meets and falls in love with a woman, played by McAdams. McAdams character is an heiress who gets frustrated with all of the time traveling. Another problem that she is frustrated by is the fact that while her age progresses normally, his age fluctuates as he travels, causing them the two to be out of sync.
The project has reportedly had McAdams in mind from the beginning, with New Line trying to find the right director and actor to star with her. McAdams has had great success with New Line, working with them on two of her biggest hits, "The Notebook" and "Wedding Crashers."
McAdams has most recently been seen in "Red Eye" and "The Family Stone." She will shoot and appear in "The Return" before "Time Traveler's Wife."
Bana, who last starred in "Munich," will be seen next in "Lucky You" co-starring Drew Barrymore, which is coming out in May. "The Other Boleyn Girl" is also set to be released this year.
"The Time Traveler's Wife" is expected to begin shooting in September.
