Alexander Graham Bell would be astounded. How far we have come from the days of rotary dialing, clunky telephones to where we can now use a social networking tool to call our friends and family. Jajah.com has introduced its Tweet to Talk application as a beta release and already it has become the "talk of the town". This new service utilizes a voice-over-IP solution and is useful due to its making calls as local and thereby eliminating long distance charges for its customers.

Jajah

Jajah.com is a service available allowing customers to place regular and long distance phone calls at a substantially cheaper price. To utilize this service, you simply log in and, after registering with your phone number, enter in the number of the person you wish to reach. The service then contacts your number and your friends number, connecting them together as local calls. The advantage to this service is there is no need to download any extra software, no headphones or speakers (though with Jajah.Web headphones or a headset are required as it uses the internet to connect your call) - you only need to have your telephone or cell phone and the Jajah account. The company has gone an extra step in further allowing for calls being made without a phone with its most recent addition of Tweet to Talk.

How-to

Jajah's Tweet to Talk service allows you and your receiving caller the advantage of not having to reveal your actual phone number or any other private details. The new application works much like Twitter with the equivalent of a micro call - a free 2 minute one. You can use the service via your cellphone, Seesmic, TweetDeck or one of many other micro blogging tools available for Twitter. As the service is still in beta, only selected users have this particular option available. If you're not one of the selected users (you can check within your My Account/My Services area), you can email twitter@jajah.com and request to be a beta tester.
