What does it mean to make a difference? It seems the answer you get depends on who you ask. For some, making a difference means having an impact on those around you; your family perhaps, or those you work with. For others, it means doing something bigger, like ending world hunger or curing cancer. For still others yet, it might mean doing something you think will make you feel like you've made a positive difference in someone else's life. I tend to think most people fall into this last category. Doing things we believe really make a difference to someone, makes us feel better about ourselves, which is not a bad thing. It's good to feel good about yourself especially if you've done something that also makes you feel proud of yourself. To feel like they've made a difference, most people need to see the results of their efforts. It's one thing to write a check to the Red Cross for example, quite another to quit your job and run down to New Orleans to physically help those still recovering from Hurricane Katrina. Most of us have neither the commitment nor the inclination for something so drastic, but still want to contribute in some way. Below, I've listed some very doable things you might consider trying if you want to make a difference in someone's life.
