What Happened on Dancing with the Stars Fall 2009: Week One, Night Two Review & Analysis
An Unlikely Star Shines; Macy Gray... Confuses
The premiere of Dancing with the Stars Fall 2009 continued this evening with more of the usual glitz, glamour, kicks and tricks as the female celebs and their professional partners took to the Ballroom Floor for the very first time. But the biggest question of the evening for fans is probably what did Macy Gray say on Dancing with this Stars?? We'll get to that one later! The show opened like last night's opener with a number by the DWTS season 9 pros. Only this time, the ladies did all of the shaking to the tune of Tom Jones' She's a Lady. Then the couples made their way down the steps into the ballroom. Co-hosts Tom Bergeron and Samantha Harris let us know that the ladies would be dancing one of two different individual dances, either the Salsa or the Viennese Waltz, as well as taking part in a Relay Dance, which made its debut last night at the close of the first round of the DWTS season 9 premiere.
Dancing with the Stars Fall 2009 Premiere, Night Two: Round One
First up? Actress Debi Mazar and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy, aka the bad boy of the ballroom. Ooh, I bet they'll butt heads repeatedly during their tenure on the Dancing with the Stars Fall 2009 season. A quote to sum up Debi Mazar? "If I can learn to dance as fast as I can talk, the Salsa is going to be fabulous." So onto their performance. Not bad! Debi has a natural grace about her that helps her out. She seemed to stumble a few times, but hey, who wouldn't be a tad bit nervous first time out? What did the DWTS judges think? Head Judge Len Goodman remarked on missing hip and leg action, but called it "full of energy" and "potential". Bruno Tonioli said "you can work those bazooms like nobody else" but to work on her timing, and Carrie Ann Inaba praised her guttiness but said she "expected a lot more sass" in Debi's face. Debi Mazar and Maksim Chmerkovskiy's DWTS season 9 premiere scores: 6, 5, 5 = 16
