I too have noticed so much tragedy in the month of April. President Lincoln was assassinated in April. I have also experienced losses of my own in April. My husband died just two days before his 48th birthday on April 10th 1999 and my my mother passed away 4 days after her 95th birthday. Her birthday was April 18 and she passed away on April 22, 2005. In April of 2007 a neighbor of mine accidentally ran over and killed one of her daughters and a friend of mine lost her husband. It was awful! I became very depressed.

I first noticed this sad trend when I was in High school with the Oklahoma bombing. I've been telling people for a few years now and it never ceases to amaze me. This article is a couple years old yet it's still true. Weird

Interesting headline you have there. When someone like Cho or McVeigh commit their terrible crimes. it's a "massacre", or a "shooting", or a "bombing". But when the government incinerates 80 people, and shoots those who try to escape the fire, it's a "tragedy", as if it were just a natural disaster. Sorry, I'm not buying it.

It's my understanding that the Columbine shooting was organized on April 20 because that was the day Adolf Hitler was born

April 19th is recognized as an unofficial "Patriot's Day", the day the battles of Lexington & Concord took place. Timothy McVie was well aware of this anniversary when he blew up the Federal Bldg in OK. He also knew it was the same anniversay as WACO. COnsidering all the other anniversaries around it, April is indeed the cruelest month.

I also often thought about how much tragedy has happened in April, especially during the ides of the month. Terrible Tuesday in my hometown was on April 10th when an F5 tornado ravaged it. I always wondered if others realized the evils of April. My sister was also born in April.

Hitler was also born on April 20th and was killed on April 30th. I definitely think that some type of stifling mental malaise enshrouds people's minds over long, dark winters and manifests itself through violence and calamity at the highpoint of spring.

I'm of the same mind, AnnaB. I think I'll stay home as well.
