Fishing is a good sport for kids to do. It is outdoors in the fresh air and sunshine. But fishing can get long and uncomfortable for kids and adults. Here are some ideas to make fishing more fun for kids and adults alike.

If you have food along with you when you go fishing it will help keep hunger away. So pack a cooler with some sandwiches and other goodies for everyone in your fishing party. Make sure you pack plenty of water and maybe some juice to keep everyone from getting thirsty when you are out fishing.

The younger the person is the shorter there attention span is. So if the fish are not biting it is ok to take a break on the shore. Let everyone run around some and wear off some energy. Swimming can be a good break if you are in a place where it is ok to swim. It may be a good idea to let nature call when someone has the need.

Patience is very important with children. If you loose your calm then children don't enjoy themselves and they may not enjoy fishing. Everyone gets crabby from time to time so be aware of it and watch out how you react if you do get crabby. If the crabby's hit early you may want to cut your fishing trip short.

Inexperienced fishermen might prefer simple fishing equipment. Easy to use poles are better then complicated ones for beginning fishermen. Cane poles and closed face reels are good for beginners to start out with. A small simple tackle box with just the basic fishing equipment will help kids get use to fishing equipment. A few small hooks, a couple of bobbers and a few sinkers is about all that is needed to get started.

Baiting hooks can be a real turn off for kids so you may want to bait there hook for them until they feel better about doing it themselves. Worms can be intimidating for some people. You can help them ease into putting a worm on a hook by letting them try it first with a plastic worm. That will help them to get the idea on using a real worm.
