Sometimes all a room needs is a little facelift. However, if you intend to do a complete room facelift, the bill can skyrocket. If you don't have the kind of cash to reinvent an entire room, try starting with something a little smaller. Flooring is one of the easiest and most cost effective ways to redecorate a room. It is typically the largest element in the room and gets the most attention. There are some easy ways you can redo your flooring for a newly decorated look. Wood Flooring Gone Bad
Wood flooring is something that is highly coveted in the decorating community. However, if your floor is too damaged and stained, it can be a hassle to fix. Most people would attempt to sand down the floors and refinish. However, there is a much easier way to give your wooden floors a facelift: paint. If you buy acrylic floor paint, it can mask a lot of the defects found in your wood flooring. Not only will the paint cover your stains, but it will also breathe some color into your room.
A Quick Covering
If you have a flat surface that needs to look nice in a hurry, vinyl floor sheets are perfect. For instance, if your basement is being finished and you don't have the money to add carpet to a home office, vinyl flooring does a great job of making the floor look presentable. These usually come in 6-12 foot wide sections. They are extremely easy to install and cost very little.
Get a Country Look
If you have a country type of theme, try glazing your floor. Simply paint your floor with a coat of red casein paint. Once it dries completely, coat with khaki colored glaze. When this is wet, simply blot the glaze with a sponge in order to let the red show through. Once everything is dry, wax the entire floor. This is a beautiful flooring effect.
Stencils
By simply using your imagination your floors can become absolutely breathtaking. Using stencils is one way to make your floors memorable. If you have a painted surface, simply buy a pattern of your choice and use deck paint to apply the design.
