Macy Gray Dancing with the Stars Performance Could Lead to Elimination

Macy Gray Took the Stage for the First Time on Tuesday Night's Dancing with the Stars Premiere

Macy Gray's Dancing with the Stars premiere didn't go all that well. Singer Macy Gray is on Dancing with the Stars as part of the 16 person cast this season, and it seemed at first like she would be an interesting addition to the cast. That isn't how it has turned out so far though, and this is amidst rumors that she hasn't been putting in the work behind the scenes to actually perform as well as she could. That lack of preparation started to show on Tuesday night when Macy Gray got her first chance to perform in front of the Dancing with the Stars judges and audience. She probably wishes she had put more work into the training for the show, because it looked (at times) like she was dancing for the first time in her life.

This is the ninth season of Dancing with the Stars, and the judges know by now what to look for in the celebrities during the first few nights of the competition. The men performed on Monday, and the women (eight of them) got to take to the stage on Tuesday with their partners. Macy Gray is partnered with Jonathan Roberts, and it appeared right away that they were lacking chemistry on the dance floor. The performance was awkward, it seemed like Macy Gray didn't have all the steps down yet, and as it progressed, there were times where it felt like she was getting lost in the dance.

Things didn't seem to improve for Macy Gray and Jonathan Roberts when they participated in the relay dances, where she seemed really lost, and ended up posting the worst score of her grouping. It was a fair score that the judges gave her, though she did have tough competition in her group that included Mya and Kelly Osbourne. Combined with those four points were the 15 that they got for the couple's dance, giving Macy Gray just 19 total points for the night. Not a good score at all, and the lowest of all of the women that performed on Tuesday. It means that Macy Gray is now in serious risk of being one of the people eliminated in part three of the Dancing with the Stars season premiere.
