Sony angered many perspective buyers when they decided to remove backwards compatibility of Playstation 2 games from the newer Playstation 3 models. However, the recently announced God of War Collection, which composes of
enhance Playstation 2 ports for the Playstation 3, brings new hope. One of the most requested games hoping to receive the same treatment as the God of War Collection is Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. Here are a few reasons why Sony should bring the Ico Collection to the Playstation 3.
Classic Titles
Ico and Shadow of the Colossus are two of the best games on the Playstation 2. Furthermore, the two titles are also so unique that no other games can compared to them. Ico is an adventure game where you must help a girl escape from a castle by holding her hands and guiding her. For Shadow of the Colossus, you must wander through the vast lands and defeat gigantic creatures. So, because of their high quality, Ico and Shadow of the Colossus deserves to be enhanced via the Ico collection on the Playstation 3.
New Enhancements
While both Ico and Shadow of the Colossus are classic games, they are far from perfect. Fortunately, the Ico Collection should be able to fix up some of the problems. Perhaps the biggest deterrent has to do with the sluggish frame rate found in Shadow of the Colossus. Since the Playstation 3 and a lot more powerful than the Playstation 2, the frame rate problems should be easily fixed. Add in high-definition support, anti-aliasing and trophies and you have plenty of consumers double-dipping with the Ico Collection for the Playstation 3.
The Last Guardian
The Ico Collection would also be a great way to promote The Last Guardian. The third game in the Ico series is coming to the Playstation 3 in the future. Although it is very unique in its own way, The Last Guardian does share several common elements with Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. By developing the Ico Collection for the Playstation 3, Sony should be able to build hype around The Last Guardian.
