In the past few days following the horrible events of VA Tech we have had some heated discussion in my classes about the motives of the killer. It has been discussed that he was mentally ill, insane, or just plain evil and I'm inclined to go with the ladder. This kid was nothing more then a delusional psycho who was disturbed and just plain evil.

He has been called mentally ill, and to me that's a slap in the face to people who suffer from real mental illness. He may have had problems, yes obviously, but don't give him an excuse by calling him "ill" he was just a person who decided to end the lives of 32 decent people, people who had everything going for them and bright futures, and he killed them, not because he wass ill, but because he was an evil person.

It has also been discussed about weather or not he had some kind of tumor, or other disability that caused him to snap like this, and maybe he did, but whatever the case it all boils down to the plain and simple facts that presented themselves Monday morning on campus. This guy was a nut who had no right to be there amongst those on campus, and should have been taken off the streets long before the events of that morning unfolded.

Evil is a state of mind in itself, and that is what was wrong with this individual, he was just an evil person. Sure there were probably events that lead to his being this way but that does not change facts. The most heartbreaking and sad thing to me about this whole situation, aside from the tremendous loss of the innocent, is the fact that it all could have been avoided if someone would have only paid a bit more attention to what was going on with this person. Evil is alive and well in our world, and unfortunately we don't always know how to recognize it even when it's staring us dead in the eye.

What crap! The boy wasnt evil. This event was just a manifestation of his surroundings. Blame society.
