Former Governor McGreevey Receives Divorce Response

Former New Jersey governor Jim McGreevey exposed his five-year old daughter to nude photographs. That is according to Dina Matos McGreevey, wife of the former governor. Ms. Matos McGreevey made the allegation in divorce papers filed yesterday in

response to Mr. McGreeveys initial divorce complaint.

Dina Matos McGreevey is seeking legal and primary residential custody of the couple's five-year old daughter Jaqueline. This would mean that the child would live with Ms. Matos McGreevey, and that she would have the right to make any decisions affecting the child.

In addition to the allegations that Mr. McGreevey exposed the child to erotic artwork, Ms. Matos McGreevey also alleges that during their marriage, Mr. McGreevey was notably absent at crucial times in the child's life. For instance, Ms. Matos McGreevey says that when the child received an injury to her chin, and had to wait in the emergency room for over five hours, Mr. McGreevey was too busy to stop by the hospital to see his daughter, despite the fact that he passed by on a nearby highway on the way to a political function.

Ms. Matos McGreevey also asserts in the divorce response that she does not want the child to share a bed with Mr. McGreevey and his partner. She notes that while it is acceptable for the five-year old to occasionally sleep with her in the bed, it is not appropriate for the child to share a bed with Mr. McGreevey and his partner. "There is never anyone else, male or female, in my bed," writes Ms. McGreevey.

When Governor McGreevey first announced that he was a "gay American," and stepped down from office, his wife Dina Matos McGreevey, stood by his side in seeming support of the Governor. But it appears now that the amiable nature of the split has deteriorated. Mr. McGreevey released a personal memoir last year, and Ms. McGreevey is set to publish a tell-all book about her marriage to the Governor in May.
