Where to Look for a Temporary Job During the Holidays

Need extra cash to pay for holiday bills? Consider the following part-time and seasonal employment ideas.

Restaurants and Banquet Facilities
Restaurants often hire extra part-time staff to help with holiday parties. Think of where your last office party was held and make a list of similar restaurants in your area that offer party rooms and banquet facilities that may be looking for temporary wait staff or bartenders during the busier holiday season.

Caterers
Caterers also have a boon in business around the holidays and will hire seasonal help to juggle the many Christmas and New Year's parties they have scheduled. Check your phone book for caterers in your area and inquire about being hired on an as-needed basis. Summer weddings being popular, you may be able to pick up a part-time job with a catering service year round.

Security Guard
With the increased number of shoppers during the holidays, malls and larger department stores may step up security. Contact the store or mall office directly or check your phone book for local security agencies and ask about part-time evening or weekend work as a security guard. This is another area that you may be able to pick up a part-time job throughout the year when extra staff is needed for major events like concerts, fairs, etc.
