Florida Tourism: A Stroll Through Winter Park, Orlando
If you've never been to Orlando and are looking for a place to enjoy, I would suggest the quaint little town of Winter Park. Located in Central, Florida, Winter Park is posh and well-kept. The tree-lined roads make you feel right at home, creating a
very nice energy and comfortable setting for a stroll down the boulevard.
In March, the Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival takes place, attracting plenty of art enthusiasts for three days. The festival includes a nice array of both amateur and professional artists. Attendees of the event can enjoy the work of over 250 artists who work in various mediums including: paintings, photography, ceramics, glass and jewelry. As part of the celebration, every year, a painting is selected, representative of the beauty and elegance of Winter Park.
When I was in Winter Park years ago, I remember having an ice cream after supper and strolling down the sidewalk, doing some window shopping on a warm, summer night. I had a brother who lived in Orlando, at the time, and after visiting Winter Park, I actually considered moving there.
History of Winter Park
"Winter Park was founded as a resort destination by wealthy New England Industrialists before the turn of the 20th century. It is well known for being the first centrally planned community in Florida; its main street includes not only public civic buildings and retail, but also art galleries, a liberal arts college, museums, a park, a train station, a golf course country club, a historic cemetery, and a beach and boat launch. Winter Park is celebrated for its sense of place and history, rare in Central Florida. Many structures are more than 100 years old. In addition to the scenic beauty of its lakes, brick avenues, and oak and camphor canopy, Winter Park draws thousands of visitors to annual festivals including the Bach Festival, the nationally ranked Sidewalk Art Festival, and the Winter Park Concours d'Elegance."
