Littleton's Best Kept Secret

Not a lot of people know about this little place on W. Littleton Blvd, where you order sandwiches with names that bring an amused or knowing smile to your lips. But for anyone who has lived or visited the New York/New

Jersey/Philadelphia area, it should be a regular haunt. The food is as close to Northeast Italian as you can possibly get. Their pizza and calzones remind me of a couple of places in Queens, NY I've visited with a friend from the area. The crust is so good it makes you cry, and the sauce is to die for. Some of the best you'll ever have the privilege of ingesting. All of their pizzas are topped with 3 cheeses, and a 16" starts at $9 so the prices is certainly budget friendly. That alone is worth the trip, but there's much much more.

I spent most of my life in the Philadelphia/South Jersey area, where "subs" are called hoagies and a cheesesteak is heaven. Of all the things I miss about home, hoagies and cheesesteaks are at the top of the list -- even above friends and family, that's how important these things are to a Jersey Girl. Old Fashioned Italian Deli has a cheesesteak on their menu that might not be perfect; but it's mighty good and can be special ordered enough to come close. It'll never be perfect, because there's no Amoroso roll, but on the menu it comes with: sliced rib eye steak, cheddar, mozzarella, provolone, grilled peppers, onions and pasta sauce; to be fair they call it a "Deli-Style Philly Steak." I order mine with just provolone cheese and mushrooms (and sometimes onions), so it's close an they're happy to accommodate the special order.

All of you fans of The Godfather can walk in and order "The Godfather" -- a cold sandwich with prosciutto, cappocola, salami, pepperoni, provolone, cheddar, mozzarella, lettuce, tomato, onion, ba-tempte peppers, mayo and Italian dressing on a hoagie roll. It takes a Marlon Brando sized appetite to finish that bad boy off, and I do my very best every time I have one. They've also got "The Enforcer," "The Hitman," "The Wiseguy" and "The Mobster" -- for all of you mob movie fans.

I couldn't believe it when I saw your title. My coworkers and I used to go here frequently. I always liked "The Hitman" the best. We also really liked the unpretentious atmosphere and friendly workers.
