Ideas for Decorating Your Yard for Thanksgiving
Many people are interested in learning ways to decorate the inside of their home for Thanksgiving, but few realize and fun it is to bring the decorations outside too! Here are some super cute and fun decorations to dress up your yard this November.
Pumpkins and Gourds. These are one of the easiest and cheapest ways to decorate your yard for Thanksgiving. I think they look best on a porch. Buy an assortment of sizes, colors, and gourds for the best look possible.
Garlands. There are all sorts of different types of garlands you can buy or create to decorate your yard for Thanksgiving. I like light garlands, like the one featured in my article on how to decorate the inside of your home for Thanksgiving. However, harvest garlands and autumn leaf garlands are a beautiful addition to your yard. Autumn leaf garlands are incredibly simple to make. All you need is twine and autumn leaves. Try to use an assortment of leaf colors, shapes, and sizes. Thread the leaves onto the twine and voila! You have a beautiful leaf garland to decorate your porch or trees with.
A harvest garland is far more complex. To create one of these, you will need:
mini pumpkins
Indian corn
pine cones
10 feet of twine
small gourds
autumn leaves
super glue
Lay the twine out flat on a large surface.
Begin by twisting the twine around the top stems of each pumpkin and gourd. I like to put a little bit of super glue on the stems before wrapping the twine to get them to stay a little bit better. This was they wont slip and fall off. Try to space them out with a little distance between them but evenly apart across the garland.
Next, you want to start gluing the pine cones and Indian corn onto the twine. It is your choice if you want any twine showing on your garland or not. If not, just make sure the entire twine is cover with he pumpkins, gourds, Indian corn, and pine cones.
To Finish up your harvest garland, glue on the autumn leaves wherever you see fit.
Home Made Scarecrow. Scarecrows are a fun addition to your yard around Thanksgiving, and they are really easy to make at home. You will need:
An old flannel shirt
An old pair of jeans
A white pillow case
A straw hat
Hay or newspaper
