Alpha Prime is a fantastic looking first person shooter based on a great science fiction story from writer Ondrej Neff. Idea Games and Black Element creates a new and unique universe where our hero Arnold returns to help an old friend and find out what exactly is happening on the abandoned mining asteroid.
Black Element has brought another title to the PC and Xbox in 2004 called Shade: Wrath of Angels, an action adventure game. Idea Games is a Czech publishing company formed from three computer game development studios with games such as ARMA: Armed Assault and the UFO series under their belt.
In Alpha Prime you start off your adventure in a unique way, unarmed. Okay not that unique but you quickly gain weapons from dropped victims or from ammo lockers. The story starts you off on your ship on the way to find out what's happening at your old job and you are ambushed at the illegal mining asteroid. You must first make your way off your crippled ship and find out why they have fired upon you.
You quickly discover that everything is not fine on the asteroid facility and surrounding asteroid when people have been butchered. The robots that are supposed to be mining and keeping the facility running are doing something with various components and parts of the station as well as attacking any humans around. Another group of assailants are added to the mix in a group of gun totting special forces whose commander you know from your sketchy past.
Finding out the mystery behind all the happenings of the robots in the facility and the reason behind the marines being called in has you following this linear shooter through some very good looking levels and fighting using some realistic looking weapons with great effects. The weapons are pretty common to FPS games starting with a simple mining hammer and upgrading to things like a rocket launcher and flame thrower to mix up the choices.
