Does Proactiv Acne Solution Really Work?
I'm sure that by now you've probably heard of the Proactiv Solution Acne System. This product has an extremely powerful advertising campaign. They have even gotten celebrities such as Jessica Simpson to come on commercials
and promote the product as being the only acne medication that works. With all the hype surrounding this product, I'm sure you've found yourself wondering, "Does it really work like they say it does?"
Proactiv is a 3 part system. The first part of it is a cleanser that contains tiny grains, which exfoliates your skin. It also has the ingredient benzoyl peroxide in it, a known acne medication that gets rid of the acne causing bacteria. The second part of the system is a toner which gets anything else out of your pores that the cleanser may have missed. The third part is the repairing lotion, which also contains benzoyl peroxide as well as a sulfur based refining mask that helps treat existing acne. You are supposed to apply these products twice a day, every day.
The makers of Proactiv do not claim that the product is a cure for acne. It is meant just to prevent acne. They also say that it is an ONGOING TREATMENT, meaning that you must continue to use Proactiv day after day, month after month, year after year. This can be a big problem for many people because Proactiv isn't exactly cheap. One package of the 3 piece system is around $40. However, they do offer a 60 day money back guartantee.
What everyone really wants to know though, is - does it work? There are many sites that contain user comments about Proactiv. One site, Acne.org has over 2500 comments from users about the product. Overall, they give Proactiv 3 out of 5 stars for how well it works. There are a lot of complaints about it and a lot of good reviews. It just seems to get average ratings, like most other acne products. Proactiv is not really that different than normal acne medications that you buy at the drug store either. Both have the same active ingredient, benzoyl peroxide.
