Does Proactiv Acne Solution Really Work?

I'm sure that by now you've probably heard of the Proactiv Solution Acne System. This product has an extremely powerful advertising campaign. They have even gotten celebrities such as Jessica Simpson to come on commercials
and promote the product as being the only acne medication that works. With all the hype surrounding this product, I'm sure you've found yourself wondering, "Does it really work like they say it does?"

Proactiv is a 3 part system. The first part of it is a cleanser that contains tiny grains, which exfoliates your skin. It also has the ingredient benzoyl peroxide in it, a known acne medication that gets rid of the acne causing bacteria. The second part of the system is a toner which gets anything else out of your pores that the cleanser may have missed. The third part is the repairing lotion, which also contains benzoyl peroxide as well as a sulfur based refining mask that helps treat existing acne. You are supposed to apply these products twice a day, every day.

The makers of Proactiv do not claim that the product is a cure for acne. It is meant just to prevent acne. They also say that it is an ONGOING TREATMENT, meaning that you must continue to use Proactiv day after day, month after month, year after year. This can be a big problem for many people because Proactiv isn't exactly cheap. One package of the 3 piece system is around $40. However, they do offer a 60 day money back guartantee.

What everyone really wants to know though, is - does it work? There are many sites that contain user comments about Proactiv. One site, Acne.org has over 2500 comments from users about the product. Overall, they give Proactiv 3 out of 5 stars for how well it works. There are a lot of complaints about it and a lot of good reviews. It just seems to get average ratings, like most other acne products. Proactiv is not really that different than normal acne medications that you buy at the drug store either. Both have the same active ingredient, benzoyl peroxide.

Hi. Proactive can certainly help manage acne. I have quite sensitive skin, so I used Proactive twice a day for 1 week and then just in the evenings, making sure that I used a gentle products in the morning. Try it. It really helps.

YES! proactiv does work.! But it really depends on how bad of acne you have, it doesn't work as great on bad acne as it does on very mild acne. I had very mild acne, and the products that i used before made it worse. Even at that acne can cause low self esteem and causes the person to feel low about them self,i highly recommend Proactiv! Proactiv has shown so many improvements in my skin and it has only been the second week! :)

At first proactiv didn't work for me. I have very sensitive skin, and it dried out my skin and caused my acne to get worse. I decided to start using it just once a day, at night, and use just a regular cleanser in the morning. Then I used an additional moisturizer. It has REALLY cleared up my skin, and it's not dry at all. I use an Olay cleanser in the morning with a moisturizer that has SPF in it, then at night I do the complete proactiv routine, and add an olay night fortifying moisturizer. This has worked so well for me, so I thought I'd share with other people that were maybe having this problem. Just a thought...I love the line of mousse cleansers that Olay has. They feel great on the skin!

Proactive worked very well for me. It all depends in your skin and how many pimples you have. I tried covering my pimples with bangs but it just got worse. Proactive is sort of changing my situation

it turns out that proactiv is a good solution for SOME skin types, but the truth is, is that the proactiv solution takes about 3-6 weeks for your skin to clear up, and that the first two weeks WILL have breakouts because your skin is getting used to it, but once those three to six weeks are over, your skin clears up

Im using Proactiv now. I'm an African American female and when i have breakouts I scar. I've heard that Proactiv slowly gets rid of discoloration but I'm just waiting to see. The package says that you shouldn't use this product in combination with any other acne treatments but I'm using a skin brightening treatment as well to help out. Also, the Proactiv instructions also say that you need to clean your skin first with some other cleanser and then use Step1,2,and 3 of the Proactiv system; otherwise it won't work. If you don't wash your face first when you use the toner you will be able to see that your face isn't clean yet. Try Lever 2000 soap first!
