Apostolic Pentecostalism; The Cult of Christianity

How Brainwashing = Religious Indoctrination

An Apostolic Pentecostal is a person that believes in speaking in tongues - glossolalia - as proof that a person has received the Holy Ghost. Pentecostals are people who believe in dramatic demonstrations of the Gifts of the Spirit, such as prophecy or the interpretation of tongues.
Pentecostal Oneness believers reject the concept of the Trinity and are convinced salvation relies upon the literal form of baptism; dunking rather than sprinkling and repentance of one's sins. People who are not familiar with Pentecostalism may think that the following descriptions are exaggerated and shocking, however the things depicted in this article are indeed accurate as I have witnessed it first hand. I spent a part of my childhood as a member of this religion because my parents were, and still are, heavily involved in their local Apostolic Pentecostal church. This is my perspective of the methods used in brainwashing new members into the Pentecostal religion and their indoctrination.

Social Bonds Must Be Severed

One of the tasks involved in submerging into the Pentecostal religion is breaking the bonds with friends and family. When a new member of the congregation is first introduced they are bombed with love, compassion, new friends that tend to leave them estranged from friends and family. What happens is the new member begins to take on the jargon and mentality of the church, most outsiders to the religion do not understand it. This provides a barrier that is difficult to cross because the new convert has been taught to represent God in everything they do, they begin to use phrases like "Praise God" and "The Holy Ghost checked me." Most people find this to be a bizarre way of talking outside of church.

Mrs. Spies i have been raised in the Apostolic faith all my life, but my mom and dad made me go to church yes but i did not have to live it and i didn't live it. but i felt the power of God yes, and i still felt that this was not what i wanted, i had friends that did not go or believe in this faith (and still do) i went to thier house and they came to mine never once did my mom or dad push this on them or me! i was even on the platform when i still was not totally devoted to God, but yet my pastor still let me on there, half of my family does not believe this way and we get to gether all the time so i don't understand where you get that apostolic don't allow outside communication. but through the love of my mom and dad and church family i have found this way to be the truth and i do not condem u or anybody who does not believe in this sweet gospel because only God is the judge. Love u all in Christ!

continued from below...People find that direction in a ton of different ways from joining the military to AA to religion to volunteering to writing letters to prison inmates. It's the structure and guidance that groups provide that helps people find something to look forward. I could say so much more but I"d have to keep making posts so let me direct you to the follow up article I wrote http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/937245/a_follow_up_apostolic_pentecostalism.html

I do believe in supernatural powers. Of all kinds. I do also believe in "God" if that's the word you want to use. I do find life itself as miraculous. Having said that, I do NOT believe in Christianity because it is a man made institution and Apostolic Pentecostalism proves that. And yes I do believe AA and Rehab uses brainwashing techniques. It is possible to change your life for the better without relying on religion. I believe that people who feel lost in life and feel like religion (of any denomination) gave them purpose are really in need of direction.

Brittney yes it is cutting of parts of your comment. The comment box only allows so many characters in a post which is why sometimes you'll see posters continue their thoughts in more than one post as I will do now...

Is this cutting off part of my comment?

Cult or not whatever u choose to call it. I have found hope with the Apostolic faith. Life has meaning your not just wondering around in a daze of existance with nothing to look forward to but the inevidable DEATH. Finding salvation is a wonderful experience. If I told you that I was a drug attic and found help in rehab or alcholic anonamous would you have the same response?? I bet not. Would u say thats brainwashing too?? Yes the big ol devil is holding you back from truth. It's very unfortunate for u. One day u will realize u are not in control of yourself your life or anything else. So do u think there is a god? What about the first couple sentences in my last response can u tell me why u believe in brainwashing but not the supernatural things of god. Do you not think life itself is an amazing thing. Or do you believe it was all just a accident? How many "cults" do u talk to? How have the Apostilics hurt or harmed u? Why is it ok to run, jump, yell, act like a fool at

Uh huh, and that's exactly what other members and leaders of other cults say too. Every cult tries to appear harmless otherwise people would avoid them.

I just wanted comment on the fact that u believe very strongly in "brainwashing" but obviously not the supernatural things of GOD! Why is it that u believe so strongly about something that has no benifit for u in any way. The truth and the love of the lord has so much to offer. Also Kelly u seem to be hating something that offers only LOVE. If it is a person that has offended u then grow up and get over it. Really people are not perfect no matter how godly they seem. People are just people. Apostolics do not go around announcing that they are perfect and dont get mad or do something should we say sinfull!! They are only trying to do right and hopefully be glorified in the lord. Until then its a constant renewal. Thats why we are in the church to be refreshed and reminded about the things of GOD. So please dont be a hater about something so wonderful. A short personal testimony... I was living a sad and unfulfulling life lots of depression etc. I found the Apostolic church

I grew up in the UPC, and is ashamed to admit that this is true. I have recently realised that if you want pure raw truth, study physics, and science. I grew up wanting to be a preacher just like all the other guys, but just finally realised that I am not good enough for it. They say it's not in who you know. They are wrong it's all in who you know. All they care about is biblical knowledge and if you pursue the knowledge of the world philosophy, science, tangible information, you are partaking from the forbidden fruit. I still go to church, and thank God I grew up in the UPC. I am just here to say that most people in the church are stupid and ignorant. Biblical knowledge is so limited!!! All you end up doing is argue and debate about things you really can't prove. In the end it's your interpitation, your opinion. You say God is three, i say he is One. Have any of us seen God in all his Glory? NO!! So you don't know.
