First of all, looking at it in a room you cannot even tell it is cork. It is not like you walk in and feel as though you are looking at the top of a wine bottle. Cork tiles come in a variety of different colors and patterns. It is absolutely beautiful in appearance.
Cork flooring is extremely durable and can hold up to a lot of foot traffic, this is why it is used quite often in commercial buildings.
If you walk around a lot or stand for periods of time, the cushion that cork provides is a lot easier on your joints than other types of hard flooring. This is also better on the joints of your pets as well.
Sound is also reduced from walking on the floor. It is a sound absorber so you will not hear people walking around so much.
One of my favorite aspects of Cork flooring is the fact that it is warm. It is not fun to wake up on a winter morning and walk into the kitchen barefoot in a home that has cold ceramic tiles. The temperature of cork flooring remains quite stable and you will actually enjoy walking around your home with bare feet.
Due to a substance in cork called Suberin, this type of flooring actually repels bugs, mold and termites. Cork will not rot like wood even if submerged under water for a extended period of time. The flooring will also not allow trapped-dirt, germs or fungus to accumulated within the cork. This leads to a much healthier home. On top of that, your home will be better protected in case of fire because cork is fire inhibitor.
Cork is easy to install and will last a lifetime. You will not have to worry about damage to the floor caused by dropping a heavy pan or high heels because cork has a great ability to bounce back to its original shape when hit. You could say that cork is a shock absorbent flooring. Maintenance is easy because all it takes to clean your cork flooring is a vacuum and a mop.
