'Jim Zorn Fired' Demands at Fever Pitch in Washington

Jim Zorn isn't fired yet, but many want Jim Zorn fired from Washington right now. The 'Jim Zorn fired' demands may work soon enough, if the Redskins humiliate themselves further. Jim Zorn will be lucky not to get fired this week, if outraged Redskins fans have their way after they actually lost to the Lions. Zorn is already in infamy as the first coach to lose to the Lions in 20 months, and if those who want Jim Zorn fired succeed, he won't get to redeem himself.

If Jim Zorn is fired, it would be the end of another era in which the Redskins could not return to power. Zorn came on board as Redskins' coach to improve their offense, and now Washington has the worst offense in football. It wasn't even strong enough to beat the Lions, who finally won a game today, 19-14 over the Skins.

The loss was by far the low point in Zorn's tenure, which is just entering it's second season. Despite being the Redskins coach for only 19 games, many want Jim Zorn fired right now, given the pathetic performances from the Redskins this year. The loss to the lowly Lions came a week after the Redskins barely beat the lowly Rams at home, 9-7.

Zorn is merely the latest fall guy for the Redskins, as they haven't been championship contenders in over 15 years. No matter what Washington tries, and no matter how much money owner Daniel Snyder throws at the problem, the Redskins can't get out of mediocrity. If things don't change soon, the Redskins will be doomed to the cellar again, especially in a tough NFC East with the Giants, Eagles and Cowboys,

So getting Jim Zorn fired may not be able to save the season in D.C. But after this historic loss to the Lions, something will need to be done to pacify the fanbase. Zorn getting fired is the easiest solution, though as of now, he still has a job.

However, talk of Zorn's job security will dominate the next week, as Washington prepares to faces 0-3 Tampa Bay at home. A loss to the lowly Buccaneers, or a poor performance in victory, could be the final straw against Zorn, assuming he gets to coach next week.
