How to Stop Excessive Sweating

It's Gross and Embarassing, but There Are Ways to Contain It

You must remember that sweating is a natural and health occurrence in the body. It keeps you from over heating. But in some cases it is extreme. Excessive sweating is referred to as hyperhidrosis. I can be embarrassing and a huge inconvenience, cause social problems, and hinder intimate relationships. That is why I have complied a list of ways on how to stop excessive sweating.

1. Antiperspirants
There are over the counter and also prescription strength. Its always wise to start out with over the counter, but if they fail to do the trick you can move up to prescription. Also available are lotions, powders, and creams that do contain aluminum chloride hex hydrate which need to be applied properly to prevent irritation. So if you need to go this route be sure to read the directions thoroughly before application.

2. Oral Medications
Like anything all medications do come with side effects. Robinul, commonly prescribed contains the active ingredient glycopyrrolate which can cause blurred vision and dry mouth. However if you are experiencing excessive sweating people have been able to reduce sweating due to these medications.

3. Lontophoresis
With this method you are going to use an electrically charged device to help treat the problem. Each session last anywhere from 10 - 20 min and you usually have 3 sessions a week. Continuing with 1 follow up session every 1-3 weeks. This helps to target your sweat glands, helping to drastically reduce your hyperhidosis.

4. Botox
Not only does botox get the job done eliminating wrinkles, it also is used for hyperhidrosis. However this is not a permanent fix. It will only last for a period of about 6 months. You will be injected with about 50 units and up to as many as 20 entry points under your arms.

5. Surgery

Since sweating is controlled by your nervous system, surgery is rather complicated. In order to be successful you will have to destroy the nerve supply to the skins sweat glads! The surgery is rather risky, but patients have seen great results.
