A businessman who claims he was the biggest contributor to Senator Hillary Clinton's 2000 campaign for the Senate says he will soon release a videotape that shows the Senator broke several campaign laws and is guilty of several felonies it was reported today. A press report says that each felony, if committed, is punishable by up to five years in prison.

For her part, the Senator, who is running for President of the United States, has claimed through a spokesman that the man making the claim, Peter Franklin Paul, never gave money to her campaign. Her supporters have also denied the Senator had anything to do with coordinating an event in which Paul claims he paid for a Hollywood gala to raise funds for the Senate campaign. Franklin claims the fund raiser cost him $2 million.

Senator Clinton also denies soliciting donations directly from donors. According to press reports to do as Paul claims Senator Clinton did would make the donation a direct contribution to the Senate campaign, rather than her joint fundraising committee. Press reports say that would violate federal laws that limit hard money contributions to candidates to $2,000 each. The press reports also say that accepting more than $25,000 in a calendar year is a felony, punishable by up to five years in prison.

Franklin has brought a civil fraud lawsuit against former President Bill Clinton and former First Lady Hillary Clinton, claiming the former President destroyed Franklin's entertainment company to go back on a $17 million deal. Franklin claims the former President promised to promote Franklin's firm, in return for stock, cash options, and massive campaign contributions to at that time candidate Hillary Clinton's Senate campaign.
