The people at Innovations Extreme take inflatables very seriously. They have designed many inflatable structures, the most interesting being the Inflatable Church.

Other structures offered by Innovations Extreme include the Inflatable Pub, Inflatable Marquees and Inflatable Nightclubs. None of these seem quite as innovative as the Inflatable Church.

The Inflatable Church by Innovations Extreme is the world's largest inflatable church, and according to their site at inflatablechurch.com is registered with Guinness World Records 2004 as such.

The Exterior

Photos on the website show a gothic-type exterior complete with bell tower - no mention of the bell is made. Different shots show different hues of grey, but it is unclear whether this is a result of lighting or if it actually comes in different hues.

Instant Wedding Chapel

The Inflatable Church makes it easy to set up an instant wedding chapel anywhere. It appears to be a big hit with organizers of street fairs and other events, but its main purpose seems to be as a chapel for weddings or renewing wedding vows.

The site says, "Now we can bring the church to the bride rather than the other way around. It can be set up anywhere, from your garden to Malibu beach, it's up to you. No problem with high heels."

For brides and grooms who would like to marry in a spot where no church exists, the Inflatable Church can be set up easily and includes everything you would expect to find inside a church.

Inside the Church

Inside the Church are faux stained glass windows made of plastic and airbrushed artwork intended to replicate that found in a traditional church. The inflatable items inside include pews, an altar, an organ, a pulpit, candles and a cross. Inflatable angels guard the door.

How it Works

The church can be assembled in about two hour's time. After use, it takes even less time to take it down: approximately an hour. The structure arrives in two sections with the accessories needed for set up.

What an interesting concept. We are nothing in this country if not innovative. This would be a great alternative to a tent for old-fashioned revivals.

I think this must be the coolest article I've read all day! Who would've thought that those inflatable things at the fair could become something more, something people actually get married in?! What will they think of next.....

Anyone who hasn't looked at the website really should take a look. Those are amazing, and very pretty inside as well as outside. Very useful and clever!

This is one where you say: Why didn't I think of that (and make gazillions of dollars)? Fun article - thanks for sharing.

Interesting innovation -- I could see some funny home videos arising out of disaster though. Jealous girlfriend brings down church...:-)

I just checked out their website and although this sounds rather strange at first, this is actually a really cute concept. I can really see these becoming popular because now you can have a church wherever you want. You're not limited to anyone one place for a wedding.

I used to work in the wedding industry and I can see this inflatable church being a popular rental. Neat article.

This falls into the Ripley's Believe or Not category. Cool!

This is too cool! It sounds like a Saturday Night Live skit come to life. Inflatables are a really big deal here in Hawaii, so I'm sure we'll see these here pretty soon.
