Free Printable Advent Christmas Countdown Coloring Book
24-Day Advent Nativity Activity Book
Advent is the Christian season of preparation before Christmas. Advent is the equivalent of lent before Easter. Here is a free printable Advent countdown to Christmas book with coloring and Bible activities for each day. Celebrate the nativity, or birth of Jesus with this daily devotional booklet. Dl-TK Bible (click here) has assembled this 24 page Advent nativity booklet. There are pictures and Bible readings about every aspect of the Christmas story from the Bible and the joyful mysteries of the rosary: the annunciation, the visit to Elizabeth, St. Joseph's dream, the messenger angel Gabriel, the shepherds, the birth in a stable, King Herod, the wise men, the guiding star, the flight into Egypt and more.As a homeschooler and teacher, I have used activities like this free printable Advent booklet to design complete lesson plans to cover the whole of Advent. I would write questions from this booklet to cover comprehension skills practice and language arts. I try to write questions using the higher order thinking skills of analysis, application, synthesis and evaluation. Here are some of the questions that I would assign students to write about in their journal and discuss.
-If you were Mary, how would you feel if the Angel Gabriel made his annunciation to you?
-If you were Joseph, how would you feel if your fiance Mary told you she was pregnant/
-How was St. Elizabeth able to welcome Mary into her home? What qualities do you think she displayed?
-Describe the significance of the gifts brought by the wise men to the child Jesus?
-How do you think the shepherds were able to understand the message of the star?
-Research stars in history. How did God use a star to communicate with his people?
There are Bible passages to help children practice reading and phonics skills, as a picture to color each day. When the booklet finishes with Christmas, you may want to laminate it and save it to use each holiday season. Print out extra copies for godchild, nieces, nephews, grandchildren or CCD class.
