Restaurant Review: Tony's Pizza- a Great Place for Family Dining in Hagerstown, MD

Tony's Pizza in Hagerstown, Md is a local Pizza restaurant. It is one of the few pizza places that is not a chain. I find this in itself a reason to support its cause. So few businesses seem to survive anymore without a big name associated with them such as Domino's or Pizza Hut. The restaurant has a friendly atmosphere, reasonable prices, and a wide selection including a buffet.

Food and Pricing
The food at this restaurant is what you would expect for a reasonably costing family style restaurant. The quality is average, and the food is decent. The best thing about the food is the marinara sauce, which has an interesting tomato flavor, and tastes as if it is freshly made. I will say that the food is better in general than some of the more pricey Italian restaurants in town, so it is definitely worth eating here.

The buffet is a good value. On the buffet, you will find a salad bar with a wide variety of vegetables, pizza, and different types of pasta and sauces. This gives you a chance to not have to choose one menu item, but sample them all. Fried chicken and some other items are available as well. I recommend having the buffet whenever it is open.

My second recommendation would be to try the spaghetti and meatballs or meatsauce. This meal runs $10.29 and comes with a salad. Many of the local Italian restaurants charge a separate price for the salad, but this meal comes with one, as do the ravioli, baked ziti, homemade lasagna, and other pasta dishes. One thing I have to give this restaurant credit for is that they have almost every pasta dish you can think of! The menu selection is wide.

As for the pizza, you can order by the slice, so if you go in to eat by yourself you won't have to order a whole pizza. For between $7 and $11 you can order a calzone or stromboli. If you want a whole pizza, when ordering for a group of people or for the family, the price ranges from $8 for a small one topping pizza to $16 for a large pizza with many toppings. I like the pizza served here because it is New York style, which is my favorite.
