I have nothing against conspiracy theories or those who promote them, in spirit. There are things about the attitude I rather admire-the questioning of the obvious, the determination to peer behind the curtain and see what's really going on. My admiration is tempered somewhat by the fact that nearly every conspiracy theory is poorly conceived, misguided and spectacularly wrong, but I still can't blame the theorists for trying.

If you'll allow me a minor revision, there is something fundamental to conspiracy theories that I have an issue with: the word "theory." In science, a theory is a logical explanation for something, formulated from evidence and objective observation. By that reckoning, I think a better term for what men like Alex Jones, David Icke and Aaron Russo peddle is "conspiracy delusion."

Conspiracy delusions cover a wide range of topics and originate from all along the political and ideological spectrum. No matter where your personal beliefs fall-liberal, conservative, somewhere in the middle-there is a conspiracy delusion to suit your needs. Are you a radical right-wing anti-government type? If so, you might be interested to know that George W. Bush knew of the 9/11 attacks far in advance and allowed them to happen for his own political purposes. In fact, he not only knew about them-his administration planned them and carried them out! The planes that hit the towers were remote controlled, and the passengers that were supposedly onboard were either removed to a secret location and killed, or fabrications to help sell the story, depending on who you ask. And of course we all know that 7 World Trade Center was deliberately demolished via explosive charges planted in advance, don't we? So were the Twin Towers, incidentally. How else do you explain all that melted steel? Or that the building fell at freefall speed? Seems obvious to me.

Please cite me a quote from someone where they admit to being a part of an evil, world-dominating, humanity-enslaving conspiracy. Alex Jones backs up virtually nothing he says with a legitimate source. If he cites an author (unless he is quoting one of the "evil" people out of context) it's usually a sympathetic fellow conspiracy theorist; if he quotes a newspaper, it's usually a wackjob outfit like the American Free Press. But by all means, set me straight. Show me some examples of Alex Jones backing up one of his crackpot claims.

Did you know Alex Jones actually backs up the things he reports on. I can find you qoutes by the people who admit what they are doing. And how can it be a conspiracy when these evil people already admitted it in their books and writings?

Got cut off the last time ... as I was saying, you may not like the income tax, but, despite the shrill protests of people like Joe, who are either misled or deeply dishonest, most of us are stuck having to pay it.

As per his request, I sent Joe a private message detailing where to find the tax laws he and other tax protesters claim do not exist. Unfortunately, he responded with the same trite and discredited tax protester claims I have heard ad nauseum since I began researching this issue: the tax codes are too vague, they fail to define "wages and earnings" as opposed to "income," the tax is really voluntary, the 16th Amendment to the Constitution was never ratified, and on and on it goes. None of these claims have held up in court, none of them contains the barest trace of truth. Joe and his fellow tax protesters put people like me in the unfortunate position of having to side with the IRS. I despise the income tax, I find it unfair to the working people of this country, and I wish it would be reformed or done away with entirely. But while I question its fairness, I cannot question its legality or its constitutionality, as these are not up for debate. You may not like the income tax, bu

Hey Joe, want to see that law? All you have to do is not pay taxes and wait for the IRS to haul you into court. Then you will see more of it than you ever care to....:)

Since you are so sure that there is a law that requires me to pay taxes on my wages and salary, you should easily be able to show me that law? Please don't do as one federal judge did in a tax case, point at the several thousand page IRS Code and say "It's in there!" That would be like saying there is a 50 foot sea serpent, pointing at the Pacific Ocean, and saying "It's in there!" I even asked my Congressman to point out the specific law several months ago. Guess what? He hasn't answered. Until I actually see the sea serpent, those who claim no such law exists have credence in my view.
