Soymilk has come a long way from the early days when it tasted strongly of soybeans and had a gritty, chalky texture. I am not a vegetarian, lactose intolerant, or allergic to dairy. I drink Silk soymilk because I love its flavor, texture and health benefits. The Silk Company is also very environmentally green. It was awarded the Green Power Partner of the Year Award and named one of the EPA's top 25 partners.

Silk has a smooth, velvety mouthfeel and luscious taste. It is available in several varieties and flavors: Plain, Unsweetened, Vanilla, Very Vanilla, Chocolate, Silk Plus Fiber, Silk Plus Omega-3 DHA, Light Plain, Light Vanilla, Light Chocolate, Enhanced, and also in Specialty flavors- Chai, Mocha, Coffee, and Spice. Silk also makes quart sized shelf stable containers in Plain, Vanilla, and unsweetened, as well as 8.25 sizes sold singly or in 3 packs in Very Vanilla and Chocolate.

My personal favorite on a daily basis is the Unsweetened variety because I try and keep my sugar consumption as low as possible. It has a rich, creamy taste and goes great with anything you would normally use with milk, such as cereal, coffee, tea, etc. It only has 80 calories, 4 grams of fat, and 1 gram of sugar. It supplies the same nutritional value as milk also. One cup of Silk has 30% of your daily Calcium, Vitamin D, and Riboflavin, 50% of your Vitamin B12, 10% of your Vitamin A and Magnesium, and several other vitamins and minerals.

All of the flavors are richly delicious; however I have found the Light flavors to be similar to the thinness of skim milk in consistency. They still have good flavor and mouthfeel however and are the lowest in calories along with the Unsweetened. The Light Plain has 70 calories and 2 grams of fat, the Light Vanilla has 80 calories and 2 grams of fat, and the Light Chocolate has 120 calories and 1.5 grams of fat.
