Melanie McGuire- best known as the fertility nurse whose computer was found to have Google searches including "How to Commit the Perfect Murder", and "pesticides as poison" was found guilty today in the death of her husband.
Google Searches Lead to Guilty Verdict for McGuire
According to the prosecution, McGuire laced her husband's glass of wine with sedatives prior to shooting and dismembering his body. Her husband's body was found wrapped in garbage bags and stuffed into 3 pieces of the couple's suitcases in the Chesapeake Bay . William McGuire was last seen April 28th of 2004 the day the couple closed on their first home. The body of William McGuire was found just a month later, in May.

Closing arguments made by the defense stated that the prosecution failed to prove McGuire's guilt, as they were unable to find any DNA evidence despite the 5 searches made. McGuire's defense also stated that the prosecution used high -tech techniques that "would make any CSI junkie's head spin". This evidence included pattern analysis of garbage bags found in the McGuire home in comparison to those William McGuire's body were found in. After having heard testimony of 75 witnesses during the 7 week long trial, jurors disagreed with the defense.

Jurors of the 7 week long trial began deliberations on Wednesday and came back this morning with their verdict of guilty. McGuire faces charges of not only first degree murder and desecration of human remains, but various other charges as well. Sources had also mentioned her being charged with hindering the prosecution. If McGuire is found guilty in sentencing (scheduled for July) she will face anywhere between 30 years to life in prison.

Sources speculate McGuire's motive revolved around her fear of a divorce and custody battle. The McGuire's had each had various incidents of marital infidelity- Melanie herself had been having an affair with her boss, a doctor of the fertility clinic in which she was employed. McGuire and her lover were also said to have had long-term plans to divorce their spouses so that they could marry.

No word as to the placement of McGuire's 2 children as the story is still developing.

I don't think she's guilty, at the very least the prosecution did not come close to proving her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

Another reason I use a free internet/computer washer. I look up all sorts of wild things to write about, too. Washing your computer won't help if your ip is searched on sites that give that sort of info, but man...it'll keep them from finding things that could make you look bad when you're innocent.
