Sometimes you're hungry. There's no food in the fridge, or you're at a hotel. The place you want food from doesn't deliver. What's a person to do? Well, if you happen to be in the Washington, DC area you can go here and have A La Carte Express pick it up and bring it to you... just don't expect to get exactly what you ordered.

First, the website isn't bad to navigate. It's in a nice subtle green with what I'm sure was meant to be pictures of mouth-watering food on the left side of the screen. It's food.. but umm yeah. You can search for what you wish to eat by restaurant name, cuisine type, or the area closest to you. We've found the best bet is to browse the area. For example, if we want our food hot, we order something from one of the places listed in the Dupont Circle area.

Using Dupont Circle as an example, I can order from 18 different restaurants if I like. This area has just about any ethnic restaurant you could be craving from Indian to Thai to Mexican.

From the website:
1) Choose a restaurant and select your items

2) Either Order On-line, or Call A la Carte Express at 202-232-8646 to place your order with one of our friendly customer service representatives

3) Your order will be forwarded to the restaurant

4) When ready, your driver will deliver it to your door

When you click on a restaurant, you see their menu and also whether or not they are currently taking orders. For instance, Legends closed at 8pm so at the time I am writing this review, I could not order some of their delicious chicken kabobs if I got a craving... hrmm bummer that. Well, on second thought, maybe this is a good thing. You see, I have eaten at Legends and love their food, and I have also had it delivered thru A La Carte... the order arrived completely messed up. That wasn't the first time either. We've ordered thru these folks about 8 times and at least half of the time I think they got the order wrong.
