What They Claim
The area where Asia Roma is located has improved drastically over the past century. In the 19th century this location was know as the "five points", one of the worst slums this world has ever seen. Today, however, the place where once a terrible slum was located is now the home of Asia Roma, one of the premier Asian-Italian restaurants. Asia Roma has borne the task of taking two seamlessly polar opposite cultural foods, Italian and Oriental, and merging them together into a truly delightful adventure for your taste buds. One such dish is the "Grilled Shrimp in Asian Pesto Sauce", a meal in which the classic pesto from Italy is enhanced by a range of Asian spices. The Asian-Italian dish combination is a must try for anybody who enjoys both types of these cultural foods.
The atmosphere nicely compliments the cuisine, making it a huge draw for large parties. Bordering Chinatown, the décor of Asia Roma is heavily influenced by its neighbor, creating a nice offset to the Italian dishes. No detail is overlooked, causing Asia Roma to stand out from many of the other restaurants in New York.
What We Say
Had the food come warm, it probably would have been much more delicious than it actually was. Although it did not taste terrible, the food had obviously been done for a little while, and by the time it reached the mouth it was lukewarm at best. Other parties who were also there seemed to be enjoying their meals, so perhaps it may have been a lone occurrence.
The atmosphere here was very pleasant, with almost every detail right in place. Large private rooms make it great for bigger parties to enjoy one another's company apart from the rest of the restaurant, which cut down on distractions and make it easier to communicate.
Asia Roma, although not so much a family oriented restaurant, is great for that couple who wants to get away from their children for a couple of hours.
The Cons
If one is part of a small party, they may be second priority if there's a larger party there at the same time.
