In this article you will find some tips for camping at Bottomless Lakes State Park. This article will be centered around Lea Lake campsites. I will tell you what you will need to bring, what will already be there, rules of the park and a review of the campsites. This article will provide you with all the information that you need to have a wonderful camping experience at this park.

Bottomless Lakes State Park was New Mexico's first state park, claimed by the state in 1933. Lea Lake is the deepest lake in the park at a depth of 90 feet at the deepest point. It is the only lake in the park that swimming is allowed. You can also rent paddleboats for a small fee, this is a fun activity for looking around at the beautiful cliffs and rocks that surround the lake. The lake is so clear and pretty that you can see the fish swimming and also a big turtle if you are lucky. I will warn you though that the water is very chilly, especially in the early summer months!

There are three tent sites at Lea Lake that you can rent for $10 a night. In addition to these, there are RV sites with water and electricity that rent from $14-$18 per night. I think that these fees are fair considering that there are full bathrooms available to you. You can go into a heated or air-conditioned bathroom with flush toilets, sinks and three showers (one handicapped shower).

The bathrooms are very nice and always clean. You are also located within walking distance to the actual lake and the beach/swimming area. All campsites also include a covered picnic table and grill. I would suggest that you bring a propane camp stove or something that does not need cooked though. My reason for this is because we often have burn bans here in New Mexico and you may not be able to use the grills.

As far as what you will want to bring you will not need much:

Tent/RV/Camper

Lots of Blankets (it gets very cold here at night)

Cooler for food/drinks

Swimsuits

Towels

Bath Products

Sweatshirt and pants

Tennis shoes (if you want to explore the park)
