Media Outrage: Baldwin Not Sole Perpetrator

I don't know when I have been so upset about the lack of professionalism, decency, respect - the shameless exploitation of an innocent child - the media will go to for ratings.

The harm of Alec Baldwin's phone tirade to his daughter is only outdone by his opposition in this nasty, protracted custody battle who released it, and the media who have aired every single word of it, over and over. Fox's Inside Edition brought on their "expert" psychologist to explain the permanent lifelong damage the phone call will do to this child. How can they then air those words knowingly contributing to, and exacerbating publicly the abuse already experienced by this child? Replaying it is like repeatedly violating and flagging this vulnerable child in the public square. What happened to not releasing victims' names??? What happened to any decorum whatsoever? Sweeps week sweeps it all away!

There is nothing "newsworthy" or justifiable as the public's right to know, in the contents of this tape, anymore than in the contents of the Virginia Tech shooter's tapes. It is more than enough for the public to know that Alec Baldwin placed a phone call to his daughter that might jeopardize his visitation. PERIOD.

Why is it illegal for Imus to say what he did on the air, but OK for it to be repeated by every newscaster? Why is this abuse of an innocent child allowable when it is illegal to release the name of rape victims?

All media who aired this tape should be found guilty of child abuse and should be fined by the FCC. The elimination of a word here or there makes this ATTACK no less VICIOUS and despicable than Don Imus's. The brakes need to put on the media's abuses. This is NOT news!

I am outraged. We all should be! Sensationalism at the price of an innocent human being is not news. It is a disgusting spectacle.
