Long before "barefoot sandals" were popular, I had a love for the look of "stuff" that accented a bare foot. Toe rings, braided and beaded and crocheted bits of material, they all had this appeal that has never worn off.

These crochet baby slippers create the look of back-to-front sandals that slip easily over the foot and tie at the front ankle. They can be created in under an hour by even the most inexperienced crocheter, making them a fun project for newbie and experienced alike.

You can find a hat & sock combo and a pretty lacey halter to match these sandals here.

Instructions are written for the beginning crocheter, using no abbreviations in the main pattern.

Takeaways
  • Try making the sole a contrasting color for an interesting variation.
  • Beads can be added to the strap by threading them on the yarn before working the back/tie.
  • Make a larger size sandal by increasing the size of needle used and the number of repeat rounds/rows
