You can use any sized corkboard as the basis for this Go Green Craft for kids. I think a board at least 3 feet wide and two feet tall would work well.
Now, have the kids make a list of ways they can go green in their own home. Try checking out website like HGTV.com, Oprah.com, and evening searching the words Go green in a search engine to come up with ideas. You will most likely come across ideas like changing light bulbs, lowering the thermostat, using your car less and even planting flowers in your yard that attract bugs. Have the kids choose 5 goals they know their family can meet and then a few more that they will really have to make some changes to do!
Now, write each one of these Go Green goals on a piece of recycled white paper cut out into a small rectangle, maybe the size of an index card.
Cut out some brightly colored recycled card stock to go behind it.
These goals should be lined up on the left side of the board running up and down.
Now, across the top you can make headers for three columns, one should be self, one should be family, and the final ones should be friends.
Now, have the kids cut out some fun Go Green inspired shaped out of more card stock. Shapes like stars, flowers, bugs, and even clouds will work. They can use pinking sheers or scissors to cut them out. These shapes should be large, about 4X6 inches.
Now, place one shape in each category. You should end up with a large grid.
