The Red Horse Steak Restaurant has been a tradition in the local community for over 35 years. There are two locations, one in Hagerstown, MD on the main strip (Route 40), and one in Frederick, MD on the main strip (also Route 40). Both locations have an incredible reputation for impeccable standards of steak and seafood. Their name alone draws people to eat here and pay a pretty penny for dinner. Don't come here with a budget!

Setting and Location

Both locations of the Red Horse Steak Restaurant are very convenient. They are both right off of Interstate 70- less than two miles directly on Route 40. This gives an added advantage to the business, because it is easy to find them for out-of-towners. However, those local to Hagerstown and Frederick are no strangers to this place. The reputation precedes them. Everyone in both of these towns knows that if you want incredible steak and seafood in an upscale setting, with very professional waitstaff and people dressed for the occasion, then you come here. (You could still wear jeans if you dine here, but most will be dressy, especially on the weekends.)

The setting is noteworthy. The Hagerstown location is a bit smaller than the Frederick location. Frederick also hosts a Motor Inn for overnight stays. The Hagerstown location has two sides, one for regular dining and one for larger groups or banquets. The Frederick location has one large main room, a place for banquets, and a downstairs bar area. I enjoy the downstairs area because it has a holiday feel with the season's decorations, and a fireplace. The main room is also nice, because great attention has been paid to the table settings and decoration. The Hagerstown location has more of a traditional and less dressy feel, but is still elegant.

Service

The wait staff at Red Horse is absolutely professional. Waiters and waitresses are dressed in professional attire and cater to your needs. In the Hagerstown location, most of the waitstaff are men. Everyone seems very friendly, and is willing to help you make your dinner selections, but the air of professionalism is maintained.
