Kelly Clarkson Takes on Kings of Leon, Alanis, the White Stripes on Tour

Kelly Clarkson is embarking on her "All I Ever Wanted Tour" to support her fourth album of the same name. Touring through December in the U.S., Clarkson will venture out beginning in February to tour another 26 dates worldwide, making this one her biggest full tours worldwide. She will hit Europe, dates in the U.K. (where her Billboard record breaking "My Life Would Suck Without You" became her first No. 1 in that country), Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. For her worldwide tour, she is including new cover songs that couldn't have been better choices for the artist.

Kelly Clarkson will perform covers by several well known names. An interesting choice is Alanis Morissette's "That I Would Be Good" and Kings of Leon's "Use Somebody." However, she's taken the mutual keys and blended the two songs into one, singing most of Morissette's song as the meat before roaring into "Use Somebody" to build a climax. The twist is just another innovative creation by Clarkson and her backing band, which likes to experiment sonically on tour with various sounds and mash ups.

While Clarkson performed "Some Guys Have All The Luck" (with guys changed to girls) on her summer fair tour along with Patsy Cline's "Walking After Midnight," she has rid "Some Guys" from her setlist but still is including "Walking After Midnight" with a blues like style to it. Taking the country out of the song, she uses her Janis-like vocals to capture an emotion not easily replicated by many pop acts today.

  • Kelly Clarkson covers several songs each tour, adding her own personalized touch to each.
  • For the All I Ever Wanted Tour, she covers Kings of Leon, Alanis Morissette and the White Stripes
  • Clarkson's rendition of "Lies" by Black Keys is to date one of her most brilliant inclusions.
