She stares into my troubled eyes
Past deep into my soul
My hopes, my dreams, my cries her
She comprehends I know

She listens to my hearts strong beat
Her head upon my chest
We play away the summers hours
And wait for winters rest

Lifes waves they fall, crashing down
Upon her young strong body
I curse the water washing over
This girl I call my daughter

She tells me life will be okay
She grows up quickly now
I selfishly would slow life down
If only I knew how

She handles life so gracefully
She makes me feel so proud
I wonder if she knows of this
I tell her so out loud

Still all to soon my life will end
No more of her I'll see
But I will wait somewhere for her
For all eternity
