Spinal Tap, the band immortalized in the mockumentary This is Spinal Tap, will reunite on July 7, 2007 as part of a worldwide series of rock concerts aimed at promoting awareness of global warming. (Though, to be quite honest, the only person left in the world who isn't aware of global warming is the man who sits in that chair in that funny-shaped office in that big white mansion.) Spinal Tap will be playing live at Wembley Stadium in London. As part of the Spinal Tap-mania that is expected to sweep around the globe just like rising sea levels if the policies of George W. Bush aren't radically changed, there will also be a new 15 minute film that covers Spinal Tap's reunion.

Why would a band most famous for songs lyrics like "Big bottom/big bottom/talk about bum cakes/my girl's got 'em" be invited to perform at a concert intended to raise awareness of such a pressing and serious political hot potato as global warming? After all, according to This is Spinal Tap director Marty DeBergi, guitarist Nigel Tufnel proved to only slightly more aware of the issue than Pres. Bush. According to DeBergi: Nigel thought that global warming could be halted merely shedding his jacket. Still, all things considered, that should be more than enough to warrant Tufnel's selection by Pres. Bush to head up his global warming policy. Makes more sense than hiring literary hack Michael Crichton.

This will not be the first time that the Spinal Tap has reunited. Following the massive success of the documentary on the band they seemed to just disappear off the face of the earth. Rumors abounded and there were more unsubstantiated sightings of the trio than sightings of Elvis at McDonald's. For instance, there was the rumor that Nigel Tufnel had turned to directing community theater. Singer David St. Hubbins was reported to be working at Area 51. Of course, the strangest rumor of all had bassist Derek Smalls actually being turned into an animated character! Fortunately, all these wild speculations were put to rest in the early 90s when Spinal Tap reunited to record the multi-silica selling album Break Like the Wind.

And then nothing.

oh boy. bob what exactly are your science credentials? I assume you must have some to be in the position to call anyone stupid for disagreeing with your views. Yes global warming is part of a natural cycle, however we are making that cycle happen faster. Do you really think that our prescence here has nothing to do with this? If you understood global weather science then you would know that the real alarm (i'm not talking about al gore here) is being raised because of how quickly our levels of greenhouses gases are rising, not because they are rising. Just because this cycle is happening is no reason to throw our hands in the air and say "well we can't do anything about it anyway so why even try" and continue merrily driving around in suvs while guzzling fossil fuels. That's such a cop out. No we can't stop it, but we can buy ourselves time. Time to find more ways to deal with this, to adapt so we can continue to live here in extreme conditions, or even time to find another habitable p

"...if the policies of George W. Bush arent radically changed..." are you f*cking for real? Get a life AND get informed. Your lack of knowledge on everything I've read from you is all too common these days. Got an idea, blurt it out. Dont even THINK to validate it or check its accuracy. Oh, and Carol - its EXACTLY that, a "cause" and nothing more. A reason to have another party. Your energy would be best spent elsewhere than this hoax.

The "man sitting in the chair in the big white mansion" hasn't fallen for Gore's "the sky is falling" BS. I would love to see a classic Rock group do a concert to raise awareness about the junk science being perpetrated on the gullible people in this country and the world. So they raise "awareness". So what? Everyone piles into their SUVs and goes home. Wow! What results! Gore's "Inconvenient Lie" is a mockumentary designed to bash clear-thinking people. I hope Spinal Tap can raise funds for Al Gorithm so he can pay his huge electric bill in his energy-sucking mansion. Is it just hippies, tree-huggers and Libs that are so stupid that they don't understand global weather science?

What a great cause for them to rally around.
