TNA (Total Nonstop Action) has to make changes very soon to their promotion and programming very soon, or TNA will end up going out of business within the next few years. If TNA wants to make a lasting impact on the wrestling world, it has to change direction, or be run off the road forever by the WWE.The first on the list of needed changes is why TNA needs to separate itself from the NWA and AWA. References to these regional promotions are doing nothing but bringing TNA down in the minds of many fans.
I will never understand why TNA continues to connect itself with the NWA and AWA. I can understand why they did this at the beginning. It was an attempt to gain the respect of the old NWA and AWA fans. It was a measure taken to incorporate these two organizations into one that could try to battle the WWE.
Now, as TNA continues to use the NWA and AWA trademarks, many fans are becoming discouraged. Both the NWA and AWA were regional wrestling promotions that never fully got over with the wide viewing audience.
While attempting to grow, the NWA and AWA always seemed to be two steps behind the WWF/WWE. These two organizations were never able to get a foothold on the major wrestling audience, and were considered by many as being minor league wrestling organizations.
Jerry and Jeff Jarrett (the founders of TNA) always wanted the NWA and AWA to rise to the glory of the WWE. No matter what organization Jarrett was with, he would always try to push for a tie in with the NWA/AWA. This is one of the reasons that he was fired from the WWF/WWE. Management was tired of hearing him try to push a minor wrestling promotion.
TNA needs to separate themselves from NWA and the AWA to survive. Most wrestling fans today have no clue about the history of these two organizations. They do not realize the impact that these two organizations actually had on the wrestling world. The young fans just look at the NWA and AWA as ancient wrestling history.
