You always thought of yourself
And you wondered how we
Would effect you in the little
World you call life.
You talked of color to us,
Gray was non-existent,
Only black and white
Breathed life in your world.
You put us on a pedestal,
Making it big enough
To fit in your
world.
You made us god-like.
We could do no wrong.
We could make no mistakes.
The pool was no exception.
We had fun, yes,
Singing, dancing, and hanging out
As our teenage way of life
Played out. The warm breeze,
Inviting us to take a dip;
It was like a baptism where
I went in as a demi,
And I came out a goddess.
A parent-like figure.
Created to nurture and be perfect.
I was perfect on that pedestal,
The pedestal you created.
Yes, perfect, a perfect parent.
And yet, why is it that
You are allowed to be a child.
